On Friday 2nd December, the PTA transformed the school and prepared our very own grotto all ready for Santa's visit! We had a great turnout, and raised lots of money for the PTA. Stalls included tombola, sweets sales and even Firfield's game-show 'Play Your Cards Right'. Thank you to everyone who helped organised the event, those who were able to attend and supported.
Students at Firfield Primary School had an excellent day on Friday 18th November and raised lots of money for Children in Need. In the afternoon, students showcased their enterprise skills by selling items and services to raise money for Children in Need. There was a wide variety of items and services including child-friendly spray painting of hair and faux tattoos! Well done to all our students here at Firfield Primary School.
Following our appeal for donations for the British Royal Legion, we are proud to share that we have raised £492.82 as a school. Thank you to all, and we were very proud of how well our students were behaved during our silence held in remembrance.
We are asking our students if they can help us to keep the plants alive on the Firfield School rockery.
If you have any water left over from your water bottle at the end of the day, we would be grateful if you could please empty the water onto the plants where the rockery is on Sawley Road.
For your safety, please ensure that the children do not climb over the rockery.
Following on from our reading competition that saw students send in photographs of themselves whilst reading, we thought it would be great to share some of the winning students. Well done to everyone that took part, we love to see that our children enjoy reading, and we wish to grow their reading skills further during their time with us here at Firfield.
On Monday 26th September, students in Year 4 engaged in theatrical fun and learnt all about the Egyptians with Partake History.
On Friday 23rd September, students at Firfield enjoyed a day full of lessons and activities focusing on European Day of Languages.
In the morning, Year 6 enjoyed a German breakfast provided by Friesland Languages Department. They played some German matching games and learnt new vocabulary for food items. In the afternoon, the children channelled their inner Picasso to create Cubist artworks, experimenting with lots of bright colours.
In Year 3, students made pizza's to celebrate Italy in the morning and then designed some Euro notes and coins. In the afternoon, students looked at the art of Claude Monet in honour of France, and created a mixed media piece of art based on his painting 'The Water Lily Pond' using pastels, printing and watercolours.
