Sports Hall Athletics Accomplishment

The start of January only means one thing in the school calendar: Sports Hall Athletics! Pupils were chosen from across Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 based on their sporting and athletic prowess to compete against other schools in Erewash.

With both track and field events, pupils were required to show a variety of talents in order to compete.

Year 3 and 4 were up first. Accompanied by Mr. Lawson, each and every pupil demonstrated a strong sense of resilience, determination and tenacity, pupils dominated the track. This level of self-confidence was emulated on the field as Firfield stormed to victory.

Then it was time for the pupils with SEN. Taken by Miss Tittershill and multiple TAs, pupils enjoyed an afternoon of events. Due to taking a substantial amount of pupils, we were split into 2 separate groups. Excellent demonstrations of sporting acumen meant that Firfield A finished 1st and our B team finished a very respectable 4th place. All participants returned to school with a wonderful sense of achievement after an energetic afternoon.

Finally it was the turn of our Year 5s and 6s who were accompanied by PE Co-Ordinator, Miss Trigg. After a pupil-led warm-up from our Year 5 mini-leaders, we were ready to go. More success as, out of 14 track events (including additional non-scoring races) we finished 1st in 12.

The field events were of a similar quality as we dominated the other side of the hall too. In our heat, this lead us to finishing a decisive 1st place, with 2nd place 60 points behind.

However, unfortunately this was not quite good enough as we finished 4th after the 5/6 afternoon events. We still await race/field breakdown as evidence.

Overall though, another extremely successful Sports Hall Athletics for Firfield Primary. Yet again we have proved how talented and determined we are as a school. Great teamwork and individual performances meant for a triumphant couple of days and all involved were an absolute credit to the school.

Well done everybody! You were excellent!
